This entry will be a short and sweet one. I just wanted to share a story with you guys that made me laugh. Maybe it’s one of those “you-had-to-be-there” moments, but I still have a point…
Yesterday, I went downstairs to the lobby of my building and chatted up the desk receptionist there. I think it’s really important to get to know the people who do things for you. For one, it makes transactions easier. For two, NETWORKING baby! You never know how someone can help you. But anyhow, this is how the convo went:
Desk Receptionist: Are you wearing your sweater backwards or is it made like that?
FashionJunkie: I’m wearing it backwards.
DR: Oh, ok. I figured you knew it was backwards. You always tend to do your own thing with clothes, so…
FJ: Haha, I didn’t think it was -that- noticable that I did my own thing.
DR: Oh yeah. it is. …You look cute though.
Outfit: Aqua v-neck cardigan backwards, white camisole underneath. Long pendant necklace with square black gem. Hair on the side and pulled back with a black elastic headband. Skinny jeans and purple velvet ballet flats to complete the look.
The outfit came into my mind in the shower when I was thinking of how frumpy I felt in that cardigan when I wore it the regular way. When I tried it on backwards though, the result was sexy and snug in all the right places in the front. The back had a dramatic plunge and a slight off the shoulder effect. I felt casual, sophisticated, and comfortable. And I definitely turned heads. I found this cute image at Style Bubble to show you what exactly what I’m talking about.
I’m not the first person to wear my cardigan backwards, so I’m not trying to take credit for the idea. What I am encouraging you to do is to create your own style and start your own trends. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. That’s why the box is there in the first place. Happy styling!
